Mercedes A Class on board stolen recovery truck which was reversed into police car

Thieves driving a stolen recovery truck carrying a Mercedes reversed into a police car as officers attempted to stop the vehicle. A number of police cars were seen in the Laleham[1] area as the drama unfolded on Thursday evening (August 13), with vehicles blocking off the entrance to Ferry Lane opposite the Three Horse Shoes pub.

Surrey Police[2] has launched an investigation to find the thieves who were able to drive away from the scene. The truck and Mercedes A Class it was carrying were found dumped a mile down the road.

A Surrey Police spokesman said they had received a report that the vehicle had been stolen from an accident and repair garage in Ashford Road at around 7.06pm on Thursday. She said: Officers on patrol in the area then spotted a vehicle matching the description in Ferry Lane, Laleham, but while attempting to stop the truck it reversed into the police car and made off.

The recovery truck and the Mercedes were found a short time later under a bridge in Thameside, Laleham.

The offenders are currently outstanding and officers are carrying out a full investigation to locate the individuals.
