Boom truck collides with van; 7 dead, 8 hurt

MANILA, Philippines – Seven persons died and eight others were injured when their van collided with a boom truck in Kiamba, Sarangani on Wednesday afternoon. Crispina Lazelle, her daughter May-May, Myrna Tangjal and Usman Yuga died at the scene. Irish Gail Rosalia, Jan Marist Valmoria and boom truck driver Gregorio Hombrog died while being treated in a hospital.

Van driver Abdulvander Danim as well as four passengers of the van and three of the boom truck remain confined in a hospital. Police Officer 1 Dexter Allan Narvaez said the accident occurred along the highway in Barangay Lagundi around 3:30 p.m.

Initial investigation showed the van driver lost control of the wheel as he was driving toward Lagundi Bridge.
