STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. The 50-year-old female who was struck by a car while crossing Richmond Road Saturday morning has died, according to a source with knowledge of the incident. The woman, whose identity has yet to be released by police, died this morning at Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze. The woman was walking her dog from east to west in the crosswalk at 6:49 a.m. when the driver, who was turning left from Richmond Road to continue on Richmond toward New Dorp Lane, struck the woman with his gray, 2014 Toyota Tacoma, police allege.

The woman made it halfway through the intersection when she was hit and catapulted into the air by the impact, according to witness Alondra Barrera of Port Richmond, who was riding in a black SUV right behind the truck.
