CUSHING — A dump truck driver was taken to the hospital following a roll-over crash April 21 at the intersection of River Road and Pleasant Point Road. Driver David Deane, 62, of Warren suffered a cut on his head, but was otherwise OK.

He is the owner of the truck, which is part of his company, Deane Enterprises. A spokesperson for the company said he was taking gravel to a job site on Salt Pond Road when the crash occurred. The entire roadway was blocked as Cushing Fire and Ambulance crews worked at the scene.

The crash was reported at about 10:30 a.m. The dump truck appeared to have had a tire blow out, its rims leaving cuts in the blacktop. The truck’s load of gravel spilled out over the roadway.

The truck’s windshield was smashed out, possibly in an effort to extract the driver. Cushing Ambulance took the driver to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport. Knox County Sheriff’s Office also responded.
