It happened Thursday afternoon on I-94 east near Knapp, which is west of Menomonie. The Wisconsin State Patrol said Theodore Anders, 50, of Sheldon was driving the truck. It was pulling a trailer, which was loaded with culverts and concrete slabs.

When the trailer started fish-tailing, Anders lost control and the truck hit a guardrail. At that point, the trailer jack-knifed into the cab of the truck. The straps holding the culverts and concrete slabs broke, and the load ended up on the road.

The truck, trailer and materials blocked both lanes. Crews detoured traffic to an alternate route, but then let cars and trucks drive by the scene on the shoulder. Anders was taken to a hospital in Menomonie.

The crash is under investigation.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) — The state patrol said that the left lane of Interstate 94 had re-opened near the crash scene at 1 p.m. Thursday. It said that delays in the area were ending as well.
