Truck driver killed in Waitomo fatal named

A truck driver killed in this crash has been named.

TOM LEE/FAIRFAX NZ A truck driver killed in this crash has been named. A truck driver who died in logging truck crash in Waitomo has been named.

Albert Frans Devries, of Rotorua, died when the truck he was driving rolled on Te Anga Rd on Thursday morning[1]. Police said the fully laden truck and trailer left the road and rolled into the stream. It was earlier reported that police were on the hunt for a doctor who declared the driver dead, before driving off.

That person had since been located. However, police now want to speak to the driver of a dark coloured utility vehicle which was travelling westbound on Te Anga Road between 10am and 10:30am on Thursday. The driver, or anyone who knows who they may be, should contact Te Kuiti Police on 07 878 1450.
