Traffic has snarled to a halt in Hinckley after a lorry fire near the Triumph factory melted the carriageway. The A47 – which links Hinckley[2] to Nuneaton and Leicester – is currently shut for repair and recovery work shut. Drivers are being recommended to avoid the area but roadworks in nearby Leicester Road[3] may will force many motorists to divert through the town centre.

“The fire was deep seated in the engine.
