A truck driver testing a German-designed anti-terrorist crash barrier was rushed to hospital when the trial worked too well. Video of the unofficial test held last month on a remote country road near Uslar, central Germany, was posted on Friday and shows the devastating impact of a test truck hitting the barrier at about 50kmh. Footage shows how the vehicle was launched 3m in the air after smashing into the concrete structure which was designed by a local entrepreneur.
The businessman had set up the public demonstration in the hope of producing a marketing video for his crash barrier company, reports news outlet HNA.
Despite the truck having a roll cage, the 48-year-old driver, a stock car racer, was seriously injured and had to be airlifted to hospital and is still recovering.
