Man jailed for stealing €2000 worth of ‘hot pants and things’ off a lorry in Dublin

A MAN has been jailed for 14 months for stealing almost EUR2,000 worth of “hot pants and things” from the back of a lorry. Noel Dempsey, 61, of Crumlin, Dublin, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to stealing four boxes of women’s clothes on Wicklow Street on August 13, 2013.

Noel Dempsey was jailed for 14 months

Garda Joseph Heaphy told the court the driver stepped away for five minutes and returned to find four boxes of Pull & Bear “hot pants and things like that” missing. Dempsey was identified on CCTV footage as one of two men driving away with the boxes in a van.

Dempsey has been in custody since January 2017 for theft convictions and had been scheduled for release next February.
