Cecil County crash kills tow truck driver

A crash on northbound I-95 in Cecil County, Maryland killed a tow truck driver who was also a volunteer firefighter in Perryville. Maryland State Police say 51-year old Brian Williams was hit by an SUV as he worked outside of his tow truck on a disabled vehicle Sunday, July 9, 2017. Troopers say the wreck occurred around 10:30 a.m. just north of Route 222 when 37-year old Eric Schlerf of Bel Air lost control of his Jeep Cherokee which struck and killed Williams.

No charges have been filed as the investigation is continuing.

Susquehanna Hose Company of Havre de Grace in Harford County and Community Fire Company of Rising Sun sent fire crews to Perryville Fire Company as they dealt with the accident and its aftermath.

Susquehanna Hose also sent condolences to their Perryville colleagues via social media.
