Delays remain on A38 but all lanes now reopen after lorry crash

All lanes on the A38 have now re-opened following the crash involving two lorries this lunchtime[2] – but at 2pm, motorists trying to get out of Plymouth were still facing delays. At around 1.50pm Police and the Highways England both confirmed all lanes had reopened, following the crash near the Deep Lane exit sliproad. However, at 2pm Traffic England’s Live Road maps showed traffic was still very slow between Forder Valley ad Deep Lane.

At one point, motorists were facing delays of around an hour. At 1.45pm, Traffic England’s live road maps[3] showed traffic heading out of the city is queueing between the Forder Valley interchange, past Marsh Mills and on to Deep Lane, Plympton.

Highways England warned two out of three lanes are closed, and very long delays building, following a crash between two lorries.[4][5] Police spokesperson has told The Herald: “Police were called at around 12.10pm to reports of a lorry v lorry road collision on the A38 Plympton.

“Fire and Ambulance Services were called to attend. “Lane one and two Eastbound closed. Lane three moving slowly.

Plymouth police have said there are three lanes of queuing traffic between Marsh Mills and Deep Lane.[7] All three emergency services are on the scene.
