A 14-year-old girl was killed when a coach carrying pupils on a school outing collided with a bin lorry on a busy route into Birmingham. The bus carrying 21 students from John Taylor High School in Barton-under-Needwood, Staffordshire, collided with the lorry on the A38 in Erdington at about 9am yesterday.

A second teenage girl was taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries and others were treated at the scene. The girl who died was named locally as Holly Brown, whose identical twin sister, Emma, attends the same school. It is not known if Emma was on the minibus at the time of the crash.

Holly wanted to become a ballet dancer and three years ago beat 250 youngsters to win a starring role…
