Lone lorry driver fights back against thieves after spate of thefts from trucks

A lorry driver tackled two men single-handedly when they attempted to steal fuel from his truck. Detectives are appealing for information following the assault in Buckden. The brave lorry driver fought back after a series of thefts from trucks on the A14[1].

The incident happened in a lay-by on the A1 at about 11.45pm on Thursday, July 13 when the lorry driver was woken up by a man attempting to steal fuel from his cab. The driver confronted the man and as a result was assaulted. While on the floor a second offender also assaulted him, leaving him with minor injuries.

The two men drove off in a white Ford Transit van.
