Motorists coming off the M2 at Sittingbourne may be greeted with an unfortunate sight this evening – as a lorry remains on its side after overturning. More pictures of the stricken lorry have emerged following the incident at around 3pm this afternoon. Emergency services were on the scene of an accident this afternoon between junctions 5 and 6.

Read more: Forecasters say a heavy downpour will hit Kent tomorrow as a severe weather warning is issued[2] A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police officers are currently on the scene of an incident between junction five and six of the M2 having been called at 3.02pm on Monday, 17, to a report of an overturned lorry.

[3] There were delays on the eastbound carriageway while work was carried out to clear the lorry from the road, and there are still slightly queues to come off the M2 at Junction 5.

It is understood that nobody was seriously injured during the incident. One Facebook user said they had been there when the lorry overturned, commenting that a 24-year-old man had been at the wheel, adding that he was “badly shaken up but otherwise fine.”

The lorry is expected to be cleared overnight before tomorrow.
