Police: Distracted driver caused Casey truck crash

CASEY — Illinois State Police said a semi-truck driver taking his attention off the road caused a crash on Interstate 70 near Casey on Thursday. The driver, James Hash, 47, of Indiana, rear-ended another semi-truck that slowed to exit the highway about a mile east of Casey, police said. Then Hash drove into a ditch.

Both trucks were extensively damaged, police said.

Hash was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Hash was charged with failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision, police said.
