Trimble creates new divisions in transportation segment

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Trimble  announced that it has created two new divisions as part of its transportation segment —Trimble Transportation Mobility and Trimble Transportation Enterprise.

The announcement was earlier this week at the PeopleNet and TMW in.sight User Conference + Expo in Nashville.

Brian McLaughlin, president of PeopleNet, has been appointed to president of Trimble Transportation Mobility. The newly-formed division will include several Trimble business units: PeopleNet, Innovative Software Engineering (ISE), Trimble Oil & Gas Services, Trimble Final Mile Mobility, Trimble Mobility Solutions India (TMSI) and several other mobile startup initiatives.

“The transportation marketplace is evolving at a rapid pace and we must develop technology that drives efficiency, precision and simplicity throughout the supply chain. Trimble Transportation Mobility brings together a comprehensive set of solutions and industry expertise,” said McLaughlin. “By improving collaboration across our respective businesses, we can ensure that Trimble continues to lead in delivering innovative products to our diverse set of customers and their drivers. We are positioning ourselves for continued growth through a market-centric approach to enable better, safer and greener fleets.”

David W. Wangler, president of TMW Systems, has been appointed president of the newly formed Trimble Transportation Enterprise division, which comprises TMW Systems and ALK Technologies.

The Trimble Transportation Enterprise division will serve thousands of for-hire and private fleets, freight brokers, third-party logistics providers and other businesses through a portfolio that includes transportation management systems; routing, scheduling, mileage, mapping and mobile navigation solutions; business intelligence and data analytics; asset maintenance software; cloud solutions; and a variety of other products and services.

“A digital revolution is redefining the relationships between shippers, transportation service providers and end users of virtually every type of product. We expect the Transportation Enterprise technologies to play increasingly important roles in helping businesses address and, ultimately, benefit from these changes,” said Wangler. “Our combined solutions offer the opportunity for asset- and non-asset-based businesses of all sizes to dramatically streamline their operations, reduce costs and improve overall competitiveness in a transformational business environment.”

TMW rolls out portfolio of new mobile apps

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — TMW Systems rolled out a portfolio of 11 user-friendly mobile apps this week.

TMW says the new apps empower professionals at every level of a transportation business from their Android- or iOS-based devices. The new apps support users of the TMW.Suite, TruckMate and Innovative IES transportation management solutions as well as TMT Fleet Maintenance software. Each app is available via the Apple App Store and Google Play marketplace.

“The transportation and logistics industry is undergoing a digital transformation that is being driven by mobile technology,” said Ray West, senior vice-president and general manager, TMS solutions, TMW. “Each of our new mobile apps is designed to enhance business efficiency and competitiveness by providing the information and functionality users need to make the right decisions at the right time.”

Among the new tools are the following mobile apps for operations personnel, freight brokers, logistics managers and other professionals who want to access core TMS application data and complete a wide range of activities:

· TMW Go Dispatch, for users of the TMW.Suite TMS. Key functionality includes adding/viewing check calls, updating stops, assigning resources, running reports, splitting trips, and more.
· TruckMate DASH Dispatch, for TruckMate TMS users. The app enables users to monitor status changes, manage exceptions, approve advance requests, track resources, visualize and map trips, and more.
· IES InMotion Dispatch, for the Innovative IES, IES Access and Access Plus TMS platforms. Capabilities include reviewing and accepting/rejecting EDI shipments, entering call checks, reviewing driver information, issuing advances to drivers, tracking and tracing customer orders, and more.

TMW also offers these new mobile apps providing drivers with access to key information and related capabilities:

· TMW Go Driver enables vehicle operators to review trip, pay and appointment data using their Android or iOS device.
• TruckMate DASH Driver offers access to daily trip schedule and detail, pay information, mapping and important notifications. Drivers also can use the app to request fuel advances.
· IES InMotion Driver allows users to review trip details, read messages, monitor Hours of Service, view paycheck information, upload photos of receipts and view their current route on a map.

Also available is the new TMW Vehicle Inspection app, which enables drivers to quickly and easily perform pre- and post-trip inspections, review prior inspection reports and confirm that appropriate repairs have been completed. In addition, the app connects with TMT Fleet Maintenance software to streamline the creation of accurate repair orders and help reduce vehicle downtime.

TMW unveils new trip planning tool

NASHVILLE , Tenn.  — TMW Systems revealed  a new trip planning tool called TruETA earlier this week at its user conference.

The new tool calculates estimated time of arrival for each stop along a commercial truck’s route.

“Hitting the customer’s delivery window is no longer an aspirational goal for carriers – it is imperative from a customer service score and financial standpoint,” said Ray West, senior vice-president and general manager, TMS solutions for TMW. “TruETA helps eliminate much of the guesswork and manual data that comes with the trip planning process, and helps fleets reduce the risk of a dissatisfied customer.”

The new application is available to users of TMW’s Innovative IES, TMW.Suite, TMWSuite and TruckMate transportation management solutions.
