Faversham: Lorry broken down in Quay Lane has been stuck there for TWO hours

A lorry has been stuck in a busy town centre road for more than two hours.

Drivers are reporting long delays in Faversham after the HGV broke down between Court Street and Quay Lane. 

Bus diversions are in place.

Registration now open for 2017 NACV Show

From Monday, September 25 (by exhibitor invitation only) to Thursday, September 28, the world’s top truck and trailer brands and suppliers will be showcasing new equipment on the floor of the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia. More than 95% of the show’s exhibition space is booked.

Woman dies and husband injured in Strabane crash with lorry

A WOMAN has died in a crash involving a lorry and a car in Strabane, Co Tyrone.

The collision happened at around 10.30 last night on the Urney Road at the junction with Great Northern Link 

Police confirmed 69-year-old Margaret McLaughlin, who was a front seat passenger in the car, died in hospital from injuries she sustained.

PSNI Inspector Ray Wilson said: “Her husband, who was driving, remains in hospital. He is in a stable condition with injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening at this time.”

SDLP West Tyrone MLA Daniel McCrossan was at the scene last night.

He said: “I know the McLaughlin family well and I know that Margaret was a true lady who was well known in the area. She always offered people a friendly ‘hello’ when she was out and about the town.

“I wish Margaret’s husband Pat, who was also involved in the collision late last night, a speedy recovery from his injuries.

“My deepest thoughts and prayers will be with her husband Pat, their son Aidan and daughters Bronagh, Julie and Laura at this very sad, difficult and truly heart-breaking time. Sometimes there are just no words. May Margaret rest in peace.”

The Great Northern Link remains closed from the junction with Bradley Way to the junction with the Melmount Road. The Urney Road is closed from the junction with Melmount Road to the junction with the Castletown Road.

Police have appealed for information.
