Somerset man arrested after Monticello Street crash

A Somerset man was arrested Tuesday after causing an accident on Monticello Street while allegedly driving impaired. Trevor Roy, 31, was taken into custody and charged with two counts of first-degree Wanton Endangerment, one count of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence, and one count of Failure to Maintain Insurance. According to the Somerset Police Department, Roy s black 1999 Jeep Cherokee was being driven north on Monticello Street, when the Jeep crossed the center line and struck a southbound gray 2016 Mazda CX-3 being driven by Kathy Grabeel, 62, of Somerset.

The impact pushed Grabeel s car into an unoccupied 1995 General Motors dump truck, owned by TL Hamilton Co. LLC, which was sitting in a lot near the construction site of the Marriott Hotel near the Center of Rural Development. According to the SPD, there had been a 911 broadcast immediately before the collision reporting the driver of a black Jeep as an impaired driver. Roy was arrested by SPD Officer Justin Creech and as of press time remains lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.

Officer Shawn Dobbs is investigating the collision.
