Man, 19, dies in collision with semi-truck south of Lowell

LOWELL TOWNSHIP, MI — A 19-year-man died after what police described as a head-on collision with a semi-truck on Alden Nash Avenue SE. The crash happened about 4:10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4 when the teen tried to turn left onto Emery Drive but apparently did not see the oncoming semi-truck. Kent County sheriff’s investigators did not release the teen’s name.

Police said he was driving a white passenger car south on Alden Nash Avenue and the semi-truck was headed north with an empty container trailer. Following the initial collision between the truck and car, another car also going south collided with the other two vehicles. Police said the semi-truck driver and the driver of the third vehicle were not injured.
