A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1030 hours, police received a report of a road collision involving an HGV and four parked cars in Cupar Road, Guardbridge, St Andrews. “One injured party was treated by SAS (Scottish Ambulance Service) minor injuries.

“Enquiries are continuing.” The accident happened just outside the area’s Dali’s Fish & Pizza Bar. Owner Binder Singh told The Scottish Sun: “The chip shop is okay – it happened on the other side.

“I don’t think it was a bin lorry but I think it belongs to the council. “They’re lucky there was nobody in the cars. If someone was in the car, they had no chance.”

Social media users took to Twitter to report that the road was closed from Dairsie. One said: “No one hurt thank God! I have a car at bottom of steps and lamppost across them it looks like something from a movie outside.”
