A couple from West Plains died in that crash shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday.

It involved two semi trucks and a pickup. Troopers say a westbound semi driven by Clarence Comins, 63, of Kansas City, and a westbound pickup driven by Walker were stopped at a red light on U.S.

60 at Clinton Avenue, near the McDonald’s restaurant in west Seymour. That’s when a second westbound semi driven by Housley crashed into the back of the pickup.

That impact sandwiched the pickup between the two semis. Briggs and Walker died at the scene. The drivers of the two semis did not get hurt.

All three vehicles had to be towed from the scene. State troopers and Prosecuting Attorney Benjamin Berkstresser plan to give more details about the crash and the charges at a news conference at 5:30 at Troop D Highway Patrol headquarters in Springfield. A judge set Housley’s bond at £750,000.
