The accident happened on the southbound carriageway, towards Thetford, at Snetterton just after 9.20am on Wednesday. A Norfolk Police spokesman said two lorries were involved in the incident which caused “significant delays” for motorists. The southbound carriageway was blocked until just after 10am but the northbound carriageway towards Norwich remained open.

A lot of soil, rock and bits of bumper fell onto the A11 and “significant” damage had been caused by the incident, according to the police spokesman.

It is not clear what the lorries were transporting.

Highways officers were called but no other emergency services were alerted.
