An inquest has opened into the death of a Witham man who died after a horrific crash on the A12. Gurdip Johal, 30, was killed after the articulated lorry he was driving came off Colemans Bridge onto the southbound carriageway near Witham[2], on February 8. The lorry[3], which was carrying wired batteries, came round the corner and crashed through the bridge barrier, catching fire in the process.

Mr Johal, a mechanic for Harris Truck and Van, on Wheaton Road, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
