Air ambulance and police called to Sevenoaks High Street after person hit by lorry

An air ambulance was called to a Kent high street after an elderly man was hit by a lorry. The accident happened in Sevenoaks, near The Chequers pub at 10.45am, and the road was closed in both directions from the junctions with London Road and Pembroke Road. Paramedics and police were also called.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London for treatment. A police spokesman said: “Enquiries are on-going into the circumstances surrounding the incident.”

The road was cordoned off following the crash.
