Firefighters are currently tackling a blaze at a warehouse in a Thurrock village.
Six crews have attended the incident at a large timber framed warehouse on Brentwood Road, in Bulphan.
[2] Crews[3] have been at the warehouse, which is used as a workshop for HGVs, since 3.30pm this afternoon (February 21).

On arrival, firefighters requested additional fire engines assist at the incident.

Five fire engines, as well as a number of specialist appliances are in attendance, including a Water Bowser from Chelmsford, a Hose Layer from Rayleigh Weir, and the Incident Command Unit from Basildon.
[5][6] A Water Bowser is a vehicle which carries a large volume of water.

Firefighters have the situation under control, and are tackling the blaze from a number of different angles. The warehouse stores a number of cylinders and other potentially hazardous materials not normally found in workshops, including diesel, oil and fuel, which is being monitored closely. Initially, firefighters had difficulty in establishing a good water supply, so crews have used the Service’s Water Bowser, and are relaying back and forth to a water hydrant along the main road.

Essex Police[8] have blocked access to the road while the situation is dealt with by fire officers.

Officers have asked that motorists avoid the A128 Brentwood Road for the time being.
