A family of three have had a lucky escape after their car overturned while trying to avoid falling debris from another vehicle. Emergency services were called to Trentham Road, in Butterton, shortly after 10am this morning to reports of a two vehicle road traffic accident. On arrival police and paramedics found a 4×4 BMW M Sport on its side and leaking some fuel onto the carriageway.

Police cordoned off the road, which was completely closed until around 11.30am. The road has now reopened, however a partial cordon still remains around some debris. A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “We were called at 10.01am this morning to reports a 4×4 had rolled over.

Fortunately, the three occupants were already out of the vehicle and were uninjured. Read more: Woman punched in face as attacker tried to steal her bag[3] “Allegedly, the car overturned while trying to avoid part of a lorry’s door which snapped off and fell into the carriageway.

The BMW ended on its side and was dripping oil. “The road had been closed due to our presence there, but it has since reopened. A small section of the road is still cordoned off for some debris.”

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We received a call at 10.07am and dispatched a paramedic area support officer to the scene. “Two adults and a child had been in the vehicle, but were out of it on arrival. All three suffered only minor injuries and were discharged at the scene.”
