First pictures of M11 lorry toppled by Storm Doris

Comments (0)[1]

The M11 is currently closed northbound this afternoon (Thursday, February 23) after two lorries were blown onto their sides by high winds. This vehicle was toppled between junctions 8 and 10 as winds gusted at speeds of up to 70mph as Storm Doris[2] batters the region. Another overturned on the M11 southbound between junctions 10 (A505 Duxford) and 11 (A11 Saffron Walden), closing one lane.

The M11 has been completely shut to northbound traffic from junction 8 by the emergency services.

Officers from Highways England are currently at the scene working to recover the lorries. Motorists have been advised to follow a diversion marked with a black circle. The diversion takes vehicles off the motorway at junction 8 onto the A120 westbound to the A10.

It then runs northbound to the roundabout with the A505 at Royston and eastbound to rejoin the M11 at junction 10.
Commuters face further misery as the storm wreaks havoc with train lines[3] servicing the capital. NEXT STORY: Elderly man blown over ‘by the wind’[4]
