Salthouse Road in Barrow was closed for a number of hours after an Eddie Stobart lorry crashed into the railway bridge on November 19 of last year. A number of train services between Barrow and Lancaster were delayed as a result of the collision. Seweryn Biziewski, of Jefferson Street, Goole, in Yorkshire, has been charged with driving without due care and attention in that he failed to take the height of his vehicle into account when driving under the bridge.

The 36-year-old is due to appear at Furness Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
