Lorry driver three times the drink drive limit SIX HOURS after A15 crash

The driver of an HGV was more than three times over the drink drive limit six hours after he crashed on the A15. Tomasz Kogut, 40, from Poland, appeared at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on February 2, 2017 charged with dangerous driving. Mr Heath, who manages a heavy goods fleet spent 30 minutes following Kogut, watching him repeatedly swerve to the left hand side of the road.

Reading Mr Heath’s statement, prosecutor Jim Clare said: “I kept thinking ‘he’s going to go off into the grass verge and not be able to rectify his mistakes.’ READ MORE: Teen driver jumps EIGHT red lights during 90mph car chase[2] He added: “He suddenly went over to the left side again more than two thirds of the vehicle went over the grass verge.

“Incredibly he managed to get the lorry back onto the carriageway. “By now the road was covered in mud and grass that had been thrown up from the lorry. “The lorry got back onto the road driving past the speed camera.

“However he quickly lost control going off on the left hand side just missing the speed camera and went straight onto the grass verge again. “This time he went into a tree. “I thought the driver was going to be in a bad way.”

In police interview Kogut admitted he had drunk wine and beer. READ MORE: Horrific scenes after offal lorry accident on A52[3] In mitigation, Gordon Holt, said: “He lives in Poland.

His job is a long distance lorry driver. “He left his home town on Monday on a long distance lorry journey. “Shortly before he left his relationship with his partner broke down.”

The case was sent to Crown Court for sentencing.
