Lorry load of rubbish fly-tipped in country lane

A large amount of waste appears to have been dumped near the village of Yoxall in Staffordshire. This picture was sent to use by a viewer on social media and appears to show a fly-tipped load left in a country lane. According to Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, they arrived at the scene just after 3pm this afternoon, after reports that it was giving off steam.

An East Staffordshire Borough Council spokesperson told the Lichfield Mercury[1]: “The council is aware of large fly tipped load near Yoxall.” “The matter has been reported to the police and we are making arrangements for the waste to be removed.” It comes just days after hundreds of tonnes of rubbish was found[2] to have been illegally dumped on another public footpath in Staffordshire overnight.

According to an ITV News investigation, there were more than 54,000 reports of fly-tipping last year alone across the West Midlands.
