M5 traffic: Lorry driver cut free after northbound crash near Bridgwater

A lorry driver was left trapped in the cab of his vehicle after a crash on the M5 today (February 16). Two heavy goods vehicles were involved in a crash at around 10.20am between Junction 22 and Junction 23 of the motorway. Traffic is queuing and two lanes are closed, according to the police traffic website.

The collision was on the northbound carriageway. Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service sent two engines – one from Bridgwater[2] and one from Burnham-on-Sea – to the scene.

Crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the casualty. By 11.25am the driver had been released from the lorry and taken into the care of paramedics, according to a log on the fire service website.
