M6 gridlocked after car and lorry crash at Spaghetti Junction with delays of up to THREE hours

Rush hour traffic is at a standstill on the M6 at Spaghetti Junction after a lorry and a car crashed – causing huge delays of up to three hours.

The crash happened at about 7am this morning on the southbound carriageway at Junction 6 and Highways England have stopped traffic due to a “large diesel spill” as a result of the crash. Heavy traffic has built up all the way back to J10 for the M54, although traffic is now passing on the hard shoulder.

West Midlands Fire Service say there are two crews also on the scene. There are no reports of any injuries at this stage.

Our contractors have stopped traffic on #M6[1] S/B within J6 while they assess the large diesel spill. @WestMidsFire[2] also now on scene.

Re M6 south J6, Highways England are at the scene attempting to get the carriageway open as soon as possible.

ONGOING: The M6 junction 6 southbound has been CLOSED for a short time while @HighwaysEngland[5] deal with a diesel spillage.
