Last year, on February 26, 32-year-old Adam Heath died in a collision in Freebournes Lane, Witham.

Another man was seriously injured in the crash. Steven McMIllan, aged 38 and from Pochard Way in Great Notley, Essex, will appear before a bench at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, March 29. He is facing a charge of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Mr Heath, who lived in the Chelmsford area, was a front seat passenger when the car he was travelling in collided with a stationary HGV trailer early on February 26, 2016. His family described him as a “gentle soul” and an “amazing dad” in a tribute released after the crash. “Adam loved spending time with his children and he was an amazing dad.

He has such a strong bond with his children.

He was always smiling and laughing and was so content in life,” the statement said.
