Motorists faced delays after broken down lorry on the M1

Motorists from Burton and South Derbyshire travelling north faced delays due to a broken down lorry on the M1 caused congestion. One lane closed on the M1 northbound between junction 25, the A52 for Derby and junction 26, the A610 for Nottingham. According to traffic information website Inrix, the lane closure was due to a lorry breaking down.

The lane was closed for around 45 minutes but has since been reopened. Traffic is slow but getting back to normal. Elsewhere on the roads across Burton[2] and South Derbyshire[3] traffic is slow in the following areas:

  • A511 Tutbury Road at Anslow Lane, due to roadworks;
  • A444 in Burton Road in both directions at B5004 Woodville Road;
  • M42 southbound between junction 11 for Burton and junction 9 for Coleshill; and
  • A38 northbound at the Toyota Island.
