PICTURES: Cement mixer overturns on A127 slip road

A cement mixing lorry has overturned and is on its side at the Rayleigh[1] Weir junction. The incident has happened on the A127[2] eastbound slip road and is causing delays in the area. Police are on scene and have closed access to the roundabout from High Road.

Traffic is being diverted via High Road towards Rayleigh Town Centre. A spokesman for Essex Police[3] said: “Police have been called to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a lorry on the A127 on the Rayleigh Weir roundabout at around 11am today (Monday, February 20). “The driver, a man in his 40s, has suffered a non-life threatening head injury.

“We are working closely with both fire and ambulance. The roundabout has been closed to traffic. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call Essex Police on 101 quoting incident 279 of 20/02.”

There is slow-moving traffic towards the interchange on the A127 Eastbound from the Fairglen Interchange and on Rayleigh Road (north) A129. Police have now closed the A127 Eastbound exit slip road to the Rayleigh Weir Interchange.
