A scaffolding company has apologised after a Twitter user named and shamed a lorry driver for parking in a disabled bay. This picture was taken at the Spar in Coventry Road, Market Harborough, on Thursday morning. Motorist and Twitter user Adamstan91 was driving past and took a picture, which he posted on the website, addressing his message to Leicestershire police.

He wrote: “Fine use of disabled spaces @leicspolice Aldridge scaffolding and a Merc with no blue badge. SPAR market Harborough.” Adam also took pictures of the Mercedes’ number plate and set them to the police in his tweet.

An employee who works in the Spar told the Mercury it was a common occurrence for the shop’s customers to park in the shop’s two disabled bays. Aldridge Scaffolding Services is based in Tungstone Way, Market Harborough, and the company’s director Melissa Aldridge said: “Obviously we’re taking this extremely seriously. “I’ve identified the member of staff involved and we will be dealing with it appropriately and reprimanding the individual concerned.

“We do not condone incidents like this and I’m glad this has been brought to my attention.”

Have you seen any abuse of disabled bays around Leicestershire.
