Two lanes of the M5 northbound closed between Junction 23 Bridgwater and 22 Burnham-on-Sea

TWO lanes of the M5 have been closed after a crash between two lorries that left one driver trapped. The crash occurred between Junction 23 Bridgwater[1] and Junction 22 Burnham-on-Sea northbound around 10.15am today (February 16). A lorry and a car transporter were involved in the crash.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue were called to the scene to rescue one of drivers who was trapped in the cab. Two fire engines from Bridgwater and one from Burnham-on-Sea were called as well as a rescue tender from Taunton. Crews got to work with hydraulic cutting equipment to extricate the driver.

Normal traffic conditions are expected to return this afternoon.
