Woman cut from car after crash involving HGV in Shaw

A woman was trapped in her car after colliding with a lorry in Oldham[1]. Church Road in Shaw was blocked northbound near the Big Lamp roundabout following the crash earlier this afternoon. Traffic backed up, and bus services were being diverted as emergency services attended the scene.

Police, fire and ambulance were called to the collision at 2.20pm to reports of a collision involving blue Vauxhall Astra and a HGV. The woman had suffered minor chest injuries, but it’s understood she was trapped inside the car as the lorry had blocked the doors. Two fire crews from Oldham and Chadderton, as well as a Tactical Response Unit, and Major Response Unit from Ashton-under-Lyne attended and used cutting equipment to free the casualty.
