Businesses evacuated after truck possibly leaks dangerous chemical


Several businesses in Billerica were evacuated Thursday after a truck possibly leaked a dangerous chemical, according to police. Billerica Fire said the Boston Road incident involved a tractor trailer carrying pallets of chemicals and there was a concern about sulfuric acid.

Billerica police said the truck’s driver noticed a puddle near the truck on Hadley Street and alerted officials.
Billerica Fire’s Hazmat crew was on scene, according to police.
The truck driver was treated on scene.

Garrison’s restaurant and Cumberland Farms were among the businesses evacuated, fire officials said.
