Arrest made after stolen truck located on North Shore, police say

A man is in custody after an RCMP dog tracked his scent to a stolen pickup truck found abandoned in North Kamloops on Monday, police say. Mounties were called to Butler Auto Sales on Tranquille Road just before 11 a.m. for a report of a stolen pickup truck. The vehicle was spotted by police, but it fled the area.

“Soon after, the RCMP received a call from the public regarding a vehicle matching this description that was driving erratically on Fortune Drive and turning towards Schubert Drive,” RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said. “Police flooded the area and located the stolen vehicle abandoned on the corner of Cornwall and Kent.”

Shelkie said the suspect, a 22-year-old Kamloops man known to police, was located a short distance away.

The investigation is ongoing.
