M25 fatal crash picture shows overturned lorry stranded on embankment

A picture has emerged showing the aftermath of a fatal M25 crash in which two women died. The crash happened between junctions 26 and 27 on the M25 anti-clockwise near Waltham Abbey just after 11.20pm last night (Monday, March 19). An overturned lorry can be seen on its side after crashing down an embankment.

It is thought the lorry was in collision with an Audi.

Two women were pronounced dead at the scene while a man and a child were taken to hospital. The child, a girl aged ten, has life threatening injuries. The man was not injured.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. A spokeswoman from the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 11.34pm yesterday evening (March 19) to reports of a road traffic collision between a lorry and a car. “We sent three ambulance crews, three units from our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), three ambulance officers, a rapid response vehicle, BASICS Doctor, and the East Anglian Air Ambulance rapid response vehicle.

Throughout the night, the complete carriageway was closed while emergency services worked to clear the incident.

Motorists experienced major delays during rush hour this morning with 10-mile tailbacks to the Brook Street roundabout.
