Driver charged following A66 HGV crash

A driver involved in a crash between two HGVs on the A66 near Kirkby Thore is due to appear before magistrates in Carlisle. The collision happened at around 9.30am on Thursday and saw the road closed for around 20 hours. Both drivers were taken to hospital following the collision but today a police statement says they have both since been released.

Arlandas Lubys, 40, of no fixed address, has been charged with driving without due care and attention and refusing to provide an evidential blood sample in respect of drink driving.

He is due to appear before magistrates on Tuesday.
