Footage shows massive carrot spillage after lorry overturns on Cambridgeshire road

This video shows a flood of carrots spilling out from a massive lorry lying on its side in a roadside ditch. The huge truck, which was carrying 20 tonnes of carrots, overturned just after midday (April 12)[1] on East Fen Drove in Soham. There were no reports of any injuries and the lorry did not block the road.

Recovery vehicles are on the scene and the road will now be shut for hours between East Fen Drove and Common Gate Drove while the truck is recovered.

The road is expected to reopen at 7.30pm.

A spokeswoman for Cambridgeshire County Council said: “We received reports of a HGV in a ditch in East Fen Drove, Soham. “We can confirm that the road will be closed for approximately five hours (until 7.30pm) while the vehicle is recovered.” A diversion will be put in place for motorists in the area.

Manchetts recovering the lorry and beginning the clear up operation

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire police said: “We were called at 12.23pm to East Fen Drove in Soham.

“An articulated lorry is on its side, off the road and there is no obstruction.

“They will need to close the road to recover the lorry, recovery will take place soon.”
