LIVE: Multi-vehicle crash on M5 in Gloucestershire with emergency services at scene and delays of one hour

A multi-vehicle collision on the M5 in Gloucestershire caused delays for around six hours. The incident happened on the northbound carriageway just before junction 11a for the A417 Brockworth Bypass at around 8.20am. An articulated lorry and two cars were involved in the collision, about three miles north of Gloucester Services, although no serious casualties were reported.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were at the scene and a 40mph speed limit was in place for a while.

A spokesman for Gloucestershire police said: “Fortunately no serious casualties are reported.”

One eyewitness said: “There has been a bad crash on the motorway, it looks like a truck has hit a fence.

Traffic cameras showed traffic delays approaching the junction for most of the morning.

The accident happened between junction 12 for the B4008 at Quedgeley and junction 11a for the A417 Brockworth Bypass at around 8.20am.

Two lanes were closed at one point and while all lanes reopened, a lane had to be closed to allow for recovery.

This caused congestion back to Stroud with delays of around an hour.
