Teenage motorcyclist dies after A417 crash with Toyota pick-up truck outside BP petrol station

A teenager has died several days after being involved in a crash between a motorbike and a pickup truck. The 19-year old man from Maisemore[1] was involved in the collision on the A417 at Corse, near Hartpury, outside a BP petrol station. He was taken by ambulance to Southmead Hospital in Bristol following the collision at about 8.30pm on Wednesday, March 28 and was described as in a critical condition at the time.

He has since died in hospital, a spokesman for Gloucestershire Constabulary[2] said.

In a brief tribute, his family said they had donated his organs to multiple people as was his wish and described him as a ‘kind, caring and giving person’. His name has not yet been released. The crash involved a silver Toyota Hilux pickup truck driven by a 52-year-old lady from Eldersfield and a Honda motorbike ridden by the 19-year old.

The motorcyclist was treated immediately at the scene by an off duty accident and emergency doctor, prior to the arrival of paramedics. The two female occupants of the Toyota pickup truck were uninjured in the crash.

The road was closed to allow officers from the Tri Force Specialist Operations Collaboration unit to conduct a thorough investigation. It was reopened in the early hours of the following morning.

The investigation team would like to hear from any witnesses who have not already been spoken to.
