(Photo by Melanie Kalmar/Special to the Journal) The intersection of Devon Avenue and Rohlwing Road in Elk Grove Village reopened to traffic around 8:15 this morning (Friday) after a car turned in front of a semi-trailer sending the truck crashing into a gas station. The accident took place at about 6 a.m. when police said the truck and 53-foot trailer, moving northbound on Rohlwing, were cut off by a sedan turning eastbound from Rohlwing onto Devon.

The truck swerved and lost control before ending up in the corner Marathon gas station. It struck gas pumps and caused a canopy over the pumps to fall onto the truck. The sedan suffered front-end damage and the tractor suffered heavy damage, but there were no injuries, Elk Grove Village police said.

Police said leakage from the truck was minimal and no fuel from the truck or gas station ignited as a result of the crash.

Charges against the driver of the sedan are possible, but police said any charges are pending the outcome of the continuing investigation.

Police said the truck remained in place Friday morning as it was supporting the downed gas station canopy.
