Police warning after potentially harmful medication stolen during burglary

Police are warning that a potentially harmful medication was stolen during a burglary in Bilborough. They received a report that a house in Felstead Road was burgled between 2.30pm and 3.30pm on Tuesday June 12. The burglars took medication from the property including Lansoprazole, Clopidogrel and Atorvastatin.

Lansoprazole reduces the amount of acid that a stomach makes; Clopidogrel is used to reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke and Atorvastatin is used to help cholesterol and fats in the body.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: “The medication they have stolen is potentially dangerous if taken and would pose a significant risk to health if any individual were to consume it. “Anyone with any information about the burglary or the whereabouts of the stolen medication is asked to contact us straight away. “The drugs that were stolen have the potential to be dangerous and would urge anyone who knows where they are to hand them into a police station or contact us so we can get them recovered.

“Do not take any medication that isn’t prescribed to you as it could cause serious harm.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 563 of 12 June 2018.
