Truck driver accused of assaulting off-duty Barrow cop following alleged crash

A MAN from Pennington has been charged after he allegedly attacked an off-duty police officer following a collision.

Rolph Fischer, 54, of Pennington, Ulverston, is due to appear at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on July 11.

The 54-year-old is accused of driving without due care and attention, and crashing into a parked car in Askam, and then causing actual bodily harm to an alleged witness who was an off-duty police officer from Barrow.
