This is why the Coca Cola truck isn't coming to Liverpool during its 2018 tour

For the past six years, the festive attraction has given out free cans of Coca-Cola in Williamson Square and Liverpool ONE[1] and has attracted thousands of people into the city centre. But this year it will not be making its way[2] to Merseyside. The news comes after the city’s Liberal Democrat leader stated that he believed the Christmas tradition should not take place[3] in the city.

Speaking to the Echo, Lib Dem leader Cllr Richard Kemp[4] said: “I am very pleased that the Coca Cola truck is not coming to Liverpool.

“I doubt that they have decided to give Liverpool a miss because of our campaign but there has been a tremendous response in the City to the public health messages so perhaps it is the City as a whole has made them realise that they are unwelcome”

This is why Coca-Cola said it will not be visiting Liverpool in 2018:

The ECHO contacted Coca-Cola and asked why it will not be returning to the city, a spokesperson told the ECHO: “We try to cover as much of the country as we can but unfortunately we can’t visit every town and city. “We update the route every year, making sure we visit locations which are easily accessible from the surrounding areas. “This year we are spending longer in each location, allowing those in nearby areas more time to travel to their nearest stop, such as Manchester on Wednesday 28th November and Queensferry, Deeside, on Tuesday 11th December.”
