When another Garda employee went into the mall to make a drop and pickup, police said, Espinosa stayed with the truck. But when the employee returned, Espinosa and the cash were missing.

Is Espinosa a suspect?

Kaufling said police are investigating “every aspect” and considering the possibility that Espinosa took the cash himself or could be in danger.

Police have been unable to locate surveillance video of the incident, Kaufling added.

Police said Espinosa is 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 225 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Espinosa was last seen wearing a dark blue shirt and dark blue pants, Kaufling said.

Does he have a criminal record?

Kaufling said Espinosa has “no real criminal history.”

A search of online court records turned up only a 2016 speeding citation for Espinosa in Jefferson County.

How long has Espinosa worked for Garda?

Kaufling said Espinosa’s employer had “good things to say about him” and that he has been with the company a “short period of time.” GardaWorld Corporation is the world’s largest private security services company and is based in Montreal, Canada, according to the company’s website. Isabelle Panelli, a GardaWorld spokeswoman, told the Courier Journal in an email that the company “will not speculate as to possible scenarios” in Espinosa’s case.

“GardaWorld is cooperating fully with local law enforcement,” Panelli wrote. “We are also deploying all efforts to locate our employee and hope to find him safe and sound.”
